Supporting Insurance Industry

The Pennsylvania House recently approved three bills that would enshrine some of the most important protections of the Affordable Care Act into state law in the event that the ACA is destroyed by a future administration. These three bills would prohibit insurers from denying coverage due to preexisting conditions, it would prohibit insurers from setting annual or lifetime limits on the cost of care, and it would allow children to remain on their parent’s private health plan until the age of 26.

Being denied coverage because of preexisting conditions would be catastrophic for many people, as would lifetime limits on the cost of care. So, it’s no surprise that these provisions have all been extremely popular components of the ACA.

David Rowe voted against all three bills. He sided with the insurance industry rather than with his constituents.

The bills passed by votes of 174-28, 160-42, and 163-39, meaning even the majority of his Republican colleagues understood the importance of these bills to Pennsylvania voters. Is Rowe really a person we want representing us in the state House?

A recent letter to the editor cited Rowe’s service and dedication to the community as a reason to support Rowe. You don’t need to have started a business or had a full-time job, as the letter writer seemed to think, to understand what is important to Pennsylvania voters.

Nick Jacobson may be young, but he cares about people, and he knows that health care is vitally important to people living in the Valley.

Nick Jacobson will fight for Pennsylvanians, not the insurance industry. If you want someone who will protect your interests, vote for Nick Jacobson on Nov. 5.
