I was happy to see The Daily Item’s coverage of U.S. House candidate Ray Bilger’s talk at the Union County Public Library last Thursday. Bilger grew up in central Pennsylvania and is moderate, straight-talking and down-to-earth. He also has an impressive background in the military and national security and speaks seven languages. He is traveling throughout our area and talking to Pennsylvanians who are struggling to cover their basic costs of living. He hears farmers talk about losing their family farms while most of the federal spending on agriculture goes to mega-corporations. The thing that most impressed me is that when he gets to Congress, he wants to serve on the Oversight Committee to stop the corruption and hold wrongdoers accountable. We need the experience and leadership Bilger will bring to the job. He is hard-working and dedicated to serving. He will have my vote.
