Recently, I asked Sen. Dave McCormick to stop funding ICE and speak out against the violence and cruelty perpetrated by ICE agents against our communities and law-abiding people who live in them. His response to me in a January 18, 2026, letter: “I support President Trump’s efforts to restore order at the southern border, uphold the rule of law, and protect American communities. This includes detaining and removing inadmissible individuals who pose a threat to public safety and national security. My office remains committed to ensuring that established standards and appropriate due process are upheld through careful oversight and ongoing engagement with DHS.” Senator, look at the people who are being “detained and removed.” They pose no threat
to public safety or national security. If ICE detained someone who really was a national threat, we would hear all about it. What we did hear from McCormick was the support for the ICE agent who killed Renee Good. McCormick writes that his office “remains committed” to upholding due process of the law by “careful oversight” of the Department of Homeland Security. Really? Not a peep from McCormick while communities across the country are invaded and attacked by ICE agents, who have become domestic terrorists. As a sitting senator, McCormick’s silence in the face of these unlawful, unconstitutional actions shows his failure to uphold his oath of office, which includes protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States.
