It is astonishing to me that Pennsylvania’s Republican Senators are proposing a bill to require all public schools to have armed school guards.
Do they think that will keep our children, or any person, safe when murder by assault weapons is happening in our grocery stores, our bowling alleys, and at parades and graduation parties?
Senate Bill 200, banning assault weapons, is still in committee and will probably stay there, just like similar bills
have in the past few years.
Meanwhile, a bunch of Republican lawmakers will campaign on their work to keep our kids safe in schools.
Senator Santarsiero wrote in his memo regarding an assault weapon ban, “With each passing day that we fail to enact reasonable gun reforms, we are choosing to protect the gun lobby and firearm manufacturers over the lives of all Pennsylvanians.” This includes our children!
