GrabAGun is an online firearms retailer that bills itself as “the Amazon of Guns,” and seeks to dominate the firearms retail space. Donald Trump Jr. owns 311,433 shares in the company. GrabAGun and Trump Jr. are uniquely positioned to profit massively from a federal rule change proposed by the Trump administration to allow firearms sales to take place entirely online, with guns mailed directly to buyers’ doorsteps through the U.S. Postal Service. Currently, GrabAGun can sell ammunition and some gun accessories entirely online — but it can’t sell guns themselves without relying on licensed gun dealers, because federal rules require licensed dealers to perform in-person background checks. Also, current regulations do not allow guns to be sent via the post office. The Trump administration’s proposal to allow Americans to buy guns entirely online and receive them at home could transform the U.S. firearms market. The changes would enormously benefit GrabAGun and the president’s son, and raise questions over ethics, public safety and conflicts of interest. But ethics, public safety and conflicts of interest don’t seem to concern this administration. This also comes as the Trump administration tries to make voting by mail harder for Americans. The erroneously named SAVE Act that just passed in the House was voted for by U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson and is hugely supported by Senator Dave McCormick. Republicans will support anything Trump wants regardless of the harm it does to “we the people” or the stripping of our constitutional rights. Vote them out.
