Our local Congressmen, Glenn Thompson and Dan Meuser, owe it to us to say publicly that President Trump’s planned deal with his own IRS to never audit his tax filings is unfair and corrupt. According to an Associated Press article in the May 22 Daily Item “The U.S. is ‘forever barred and precluded’ from examining or prosecuting Trump, his sons and the Trump Organization’s current tax filings.” Who wouldn’t love a deal like that, but obviously it is wrong and a cheat. It’s time for Rep. Meuser and Rep. Thompson to announce that they agree nobody is above the law, and that they will do what they can to keep this proposed deal from going forward. The president should follow the same rules that you and I have to.
