Denial Is Still Dangerous

In October 2020, a letter I wrote (“Denial is Dangerous”) told a tragic personal story learned from an insurance company risk analyst. He said that people are generally very poor at assessing risk, even against strong evidence. If they don’t want to believe something, they often will deny it.

Our country was at risk then, facing another Trump Administration, and still is. The Heritage Foundation has developed Project 2025, a detailed plan for an authoritarian Administration to take power from Day 1 and radically change our government and curtail our freedoms. Read about it at https://www.project2025.org/.

If we continue to deny evidence-based assessments, what we personally see and hear, and not respond accordingly, we and successive generations will be living in a vastly different U.S.A.

It is not exaggerating to say that, under this plan, basic personal rights (reproductive and gender-based), climate change action, public education, freedom to vote and peacefully protest, and more will be abolished or curtailed. There is a clear vision of a Christian Nationalist conservative agenda and how to enforce it.

Do we want a President who implemented 60 percent of The Heritage Foundation’s policy recommendations in the past, who will take away the freedoms we have now?

Or an accomplished, true public servant who believes in democracy and the rule of law?

Think about what kind of country you want to live in. Do not deny the risk we face.
