On July 2, David Rowe held a Town Hall Meeting via telephone. According to Rowe, he does it this way because his District 85 “is the largest in the state” and “this saves a lot of driving time”. I think he does it this way so he can control the content of the conversation. Constituents are able to ask questions, but the questions are screened. For example, I asked why he voted against House Bill 851, which provides menstrual hygiene products to girls who need help paying for them. I was on the call for 69 minutes, but my question was never answered. Rowe said that “green initiatives are ruining farmers,” which, according to The American Farm Bureau Federation, is not true.
Rowe also said that lithium batteries we buy from China are made by slaves and “the Green New Deal supports Chinese slave labor”. Also not true. This is partisan political rhetoric, paid for with our tax dollars! Rowe is a member of America First for PA, whose alleged purpose is to take action on “issues impacting the day-to-day lives of hard working Pennsylvanians”. Really, Mr. Rowe, that is just a crock of poppycock. He voted against HB 851. He also voted against HB 1140, which requires insurance programs to provide coverage for contraception; HB 2370, which establishes a new system for the funding of public education; and SB 37, which prohibits distracted driving, and he voted NAY on a vote to pass a bill that prohibits the sale of ghost guns.
