If you’re not scared for our nation’s future, you’re not paying attention, and time is getting short!
The November 2024 presidential election could have widespread and potentially devastating impacts on every American. Conservative Republicans have proposed detailed plans for the first 180 days of a second Donald Trump (or other Republican) presidency to totally change our government and democracy.
Dubbed “Project 2025 Mandate for Leadership,” this comprehensive plan from the conservative Heritage Foundation consists of proposals to deconstruct or destroy virtually every government institution and policy on which Americans depend to make and keep our lives safe and orderly. The objectives of Project 2025 are:
- Ban abortion and severely limit contraception and reproductive health care.
- Dismantle racial justice protections and erect new roadblocks to equality.
- Eliminate the Department of Education and divert public funds to private religious schools.
- Roll back the rights of minorities, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people.
- Further reduce taxes for corporations and the wealthy and increase the national debt.
- Slash public services that are open to all, and redirect billions of much-needed federal funding to private agencies that are free to discriminate at will.
- Erase marriage equality and restrict divorce options.
- Suppress voting rights and voting.
- Redefine religious freedom as an unrestricted license to discriminate.
The plan also calls for the firing of thousands of nonpartisan civil service workers in all areas of government and replacing them with individuals who promise fealty to the president and his policies. These are the dedicated employees who work hard every day for agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, the Departments of Agriculture, Labor, Health and Human Services, Transportation, and all of the other federal agencies which ensure that our food, drugs, environment, and working conditions are safe.
The Heritage Foundation has already created a database of potential replacement employees and has established a training (indoctrination) program to guarantee that these new employees will be loyal to the president and adhere totally to the program’s objectives and goals.
Other alarming proposals in Project 2025 include repealing or replacing the Affordable Care Act, stripping medical insurance from millions of Americans, reducing or privatizing Social Security, reducing Medicare benefits, and repealing the government’s ability to negotiate and control prescription drug prices. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice would be placed under the direct control of the president, creating a personal police force to exact revenge on perceived “enemies” of the administration.
