Two Attend Obama’s Healthcare Meeting

Members of the UCDC were active participants in recent meetings dealing with health care reform and other political issues. The committee had a large contingent present at the town meeting held by
Senator Specter in Lewisburg on August 11. Committee member Nancy Crook asked one of the few questions that were supportive of health care reform, in a meeting dominated by raucous opposition.
Nancy Crook and Chip Facka attended a large meeting in Washington on August 20, and heard President Obama's address to the group. Chip's response to the gathering was enthusiastic:
Nancy and I had a wonderful experience today. Honestly, we could not be luckier to have this president in charge at this point in our history. I'm hoping he gets this community's full support. We are in the midst of a silent (for now) revolution, and he's going to do a great job. Let's help him as much as we can.
Five of us attended Chris Carney's town meeting in Laporte on August 20. The county courtroom was filled, and almost all the randomly selected questioners were against health care reform, but we were at least a vocal presence for reform, and many of us had a chance afterward to speak with the congressman and encourage him to keep working for meaningful reform.
Thanks to John Peeler one of the our committee members for keeping us up to date.
